Job Summary: To setup injection molds in the injection molding machinery, to start up the molds and machinery and to maintain all aspects of the injection molding manufacturing processes and related activities. Be capable of training Mold Technician Trainees, Tool Maintenance Technician Trainees, Material Handlers, and Mold Operators in their job responsibilities and procedures to be followed.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Follow and assist with implementation/enforcement of all company policies and procedures, include all safety policies and industry practices.
- Coordinate with the Material Handlers, Mold Technician Trainees, and Operators.
- Effective and efficient advanced setup of molds into the molding machines.
- Ensure molding machines operate efficiently and within appropriate processing parameters and techniques.
- Trouble shoot processing parameters and/or mechanical tooling functions as it relates to unacceptable part quality or machine function.
- Accurately complete all related documentation on work orders and in IQMS.
- Ensure the operator’s accuracy of reporting on work orders, packaging and as needed in IQMS.
- Ensure operator safety training and that they are properly operating the machine and/or fixture. Holding the trim knife properly, Emergency stop buttons, safety features, etc.
- Perform operator training and instruction by quality specifications, attributable or dimensional as required by manufacturing instructions, inspection criteria sheets, or as otherwise outlined in the traveler package or IQMS notations.
- Ensure raw materials are kept at acceptable levels in the processing equipment and machines.
- Oversight of raw materials and associated subcomponents being kitted and handled correctly to and from the molding floor.
- Oversee the packaging and labeling of all components produced, scrapped and moved into the proper locations.
- Complete the daily report for every machine before the end of your shift. Review your report with the next technician coming onto duty as possible.
- Ensure technician or equivalent coverage is always available on the molding floor.
- Oversee the movement, organization, disposition status, machine reporting status, and general completion of all molded components. Perform as required.
- Monitor yields; fix and report inefficiencies of below BOM stated scrap rates
- Oversee the proper labeling and movement of raw material going back to the warehouse staging area.
- Oversee the plastic regrinding operation, i.e. Proper material identification, lot numbers, and movement.
- Initiate and maintain molding department supply inventories, including but not limited to mold releases, necessary setup hand tools and related set up hardware and supplies, tote bins, etc.
- Supervisory responsibilities as needed, including disciplinary actions through HR and Management.
- Ensure all work performed by subordinates is completed accurately and thoroughly.
Inspect Tools to ensure proper configuration of setups, damage of tools, and other discrepancies.

Required Skills/Abilities:
- Physical operation of manual tools and all injection molding as well as auxiliary equipment.
- Mechanically inclined aptitude.
- Interpersonal skills as it relates to the responsibilities of the position.
- Ability to read, analyze, interpret technical drawings and procedures.
- Ability to write reports.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management.
- Ability to operate: forklift and other hydraulic lifting devices as well as wenches in order to load molds into machinery
Training/Education:
Three years’ experience as molding technician and or setup technician minimum
