Your Role:
As Operational Excellence Manager, you will be an integral part of the home building plant leadership team and will lead all aspects of quality, EHS, and manufacturing engineering. Reporting to the General Manager, your role on the team is to “improve the plays” in the home building process by focusing on continuous improvement with three main goals: 1) improve productivity, 2) improve quality, 3) make the plant safer and more sustainable. Your direct report team will consist of a Manufacturing Engineer, Quality Manager, and EHS Manager. Collaboration and internal partnership with various functions, specifically your peers in sales, production, materials management, and HR will be critical for the individual in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Responsible for leading the implementation and management of the quality program across the facility, including governance over data collection, analysis, and problem-solving for root cause of quality defects.
- Responsible for leading the implementation and management of the EHS program across the facility, including governance over data collection, analysis, and problem-solving for root cause of safety and environmental issues.
- Responsible for leading the implementation and management of the continuous improvement program, which includes process improvement (example: Kaizen events), manufacturing design/layout, standard operating procedures, and integration of safety & quality into the manufacturing process.
- Identify capital investment opportunities for productivity, safety, sustainability, and quality improvements in the plant. Partner with Home Office to prioritize and gain approval for investments.
- Support plant leadership teams on the development and execution of plans to minimize production costs through effective use of team, equipment, facilities, materials, and capital expenditures.
You Have:
- BS/BA degree in Engineering, Business Management, or related field from an accredited institution
- 5-7 years of Manufacturing Engineering, Quality Management, and/or Continuous Process Improvement in a Manufacturing Environment.
- Ability to travel several weeks per year.
- Excellent Microsoft Office capabilities, including Excel.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (written and verbal).
- Process and detail oriented: can utilize multiple data points to identify potential opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Knowledge of LEAN principles and experience implementing LEAN processes.
Ideally, You Will Bring:
- MBA or other advanced degree.
- ASQ Certified Quality Technician/Engineer/Professional Quality/Statistical Application certification.
- Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
- Experience with Hazard and Risk Management.
