POSITION SUMMARY :

Develops students' understanding and appreciation of the art of music, including listening to a wide range of musical genres, periods, and styles; and to identify, promote, and develop each student's talents in vocal and instrumental musical expression. This position reports to the Principal.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Instructs students using various teaching methods, such as lectures, audiovisual aids, demonstrations, and other materials to supplement presentations relative to specific content fields.
• Assigns lessons and corrects homework; administers tests to evaluate students’ progress, records results, and issues reports to inform parents of progress. Maintains discipline in the classroom and supervises behavior outside the classroom (i.e., halls, bus, lunch / cafeteria, rest room duty).
• Prepares course outlines and objectives according to curriculum guidelines or state and local requirements.
• Conducts parent / teacher conferences to review student’s progress, performance, and behavior problems. Participates in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and teacher training workshops.
• All other duties, as assigned and required, in order to perform the above services.

Must be able to stand and walk approximately seven (7) to seven and one-half (7½) hours per day. Light duty - On most occasions sitting at a desk or table; intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. Light lifting or carrying; twenty (20) lbs. or less.
