What are the responsibilities and job description for the Employee Hearing Tribunal Panel Member (Pool Posting) position at Clayton County Public Schools?
Title: EMPLOYEE HEARING TRIBUNAL PANEL MEMBER
(NOTE: This is to create a pool of interested candidates to serve as vendors with the Clayton County Public Schools)
Description: The Employee Hearing Tribunal Panel consists of vendors who provide services
on an as-needed, fee-paid basis for employee disciplinary hearings. Panel members listen to the evidence, questions parties and witnesses, and decide a wide range of cases, including but not limited to: employee wrongdoing/misconduct, performance deficiencies,
inappropriate/unprofessional behavior or any other good and sufficient cause matters.
The successful candidate must be willing to serve as and complete the appropriate process to become a vendor with the school system. Additionally, the successful candidate must be willing to commit to at least three hearings per year, if called upon (note: while hearings typically last one day, they may be held over the course of a couple of days depending upon the complexity of the case). Furthermore, panel members must return for an additional day to deliberate and participate in drafting the Findings of Fact for any case heard.
Required knowledge, skills and abilities:
- Must possess academic expertise.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions, and analyze facts logically.
- Must have served as an administrator in a school system for a minimum of five (5) years or have taught for a minimum of seven (7) years
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have retired from or been previously employed within a public, private or charter school system setting.
- Must pass a criminal background check (this will be conducted by CCPS, but paid for by the candidate).
*Tribunal members will be appointed for a five-year period and may be renewed for further periods provided that they are still willing to serve and considered to be competent.*
