CNC Machinist/ VTL Operator

Clayton Services is searching for a CNC Lathe Machinist for a thriving company in the West Houston area.

Job Type: Temp-to-Hire

Pay Rate: $25.00-$27.00/hour, depending on experience

CNC Lathe Machinist Responsibilities:

• Set up and/or run a 2-machine cell.
• Participate in company Lean Initiatives by driving continuous improvement initiatives across the organization.
• Keep equipment, tooling, and work area clean, orderly, and secure.
• Perform maintenance of machines as required and keep the Lead Machinist informed of necessary maintenance beyond operator-assigned maintenance.
• Perform necessary side operations during machine cycle time as required.
• Follow set-up procedures and recommend improvements.
• Recognize problem processes and unsafe set-ups and recommend alternatives.
• Work as a team member to meet departmental standards, including quality and productivity goals.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
  
  

CNC Lathe Machinist Skills and Abilities:

• Knowledge of optimal tooling selection, feed and speed calculation, materials, and overall process improvement
• Ability to work with little to no supervision
• Ability to use and read measuring equipment
• Understanding of feed speeds & insert grades
• Knowledge of VTL
• Ability to read and edit CNC programs and maintenance
• Detail-oriented
  
  

CNC Lathe Machinist Education and Experience:

• A minimum of three years of CNC Machinist and VTL experience is required
• Ability to run a CNC Lathe & Mill with VTL a plus
