Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Coordinator for Student Support to join our team within the Division of Student Affairs and under the direction of the Dean of Students. In this role, the Coordinator will provide essential support to students facing academic, financial, and personal challenges that could impact their ability to remain enrolled. The Coordinator will focus on retention efforts and work closely with students to address issues such as financial holds, academic progress concerns, and housing difficulties, connecting them with campus resources to ensure they are able to continue their education. Responsibilities will include outreach, monitoring retention data, case management, and collaboration with key campus departments such as Financial Aid, Advising, and the Registrar to jointly prioritize the necessary resources, programs, and support to ensure students can thrive and persist in their academic journey.
Responsibilities
1) At-Risk Student Intervention and Monitoring
Coordinate outreach and follow-up for at-risk students, including those impacted by early alerts from Advising, Student Academic Progress (SAP) issues, financial holds, and students dropped for non-payment. Assist with reinstatement and returning students to campus after withdrawals, suspensions, or housing issues. Support students navigating registration challenges and financial barriers, offering case management during orientation and connecting families to campus resources. Identify and connect students to community resources to support their well-being. Develop and coordinate programs to enhance outreach and case management efforts for at-risk students. Collaborate with Financial Aid, the Registrar, and other departments to ensure students remain on track for graduation. Additionally, coordinate the operations of the Crisis, Assessment, Response, and Education (CARE) Team. (45%)
2) CARE Team
Coordinate all aspects of the Crisis, Assessment, Response, and Education (CARE) Team, including scheduling meetings, preparing materials, researching students of concern, maintaining documentation, and evaluating operational efficiency. (30%)
3) Sense of Belonging and Community Initiatives
Create and support initiatives that foster an inclusive campus environment and address barriers to student success, particularly for those facing challenges related to their identity. Collaborate with campus partners to build a supportive, welcoming community for all students. (15%)
4) Student Affairs and Care Support Duties as Assigned
Assist with basic needs inquiries, general care concerns, and other student support services. Provide support for major campus events and respond to emerging campus needs as they arise. (10%)
Required Qualifications
2-3 years of experience in higher education, student affairs, or care or retention-related case management.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with experience in social work and demonstrated ability to connect individuals with community resources to support their overall well-being.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
Solid knowledge of student development theory, student conduct processes, and residence life programming. Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
