This position performs entry level grounds keeping and landscaping duties. This may involve landscaping maintenance (operating mowers, trimmers, blowers, picking up trash, raking, planting, and pruning). This position reports to the Landscape Supervisor and Assistant Director, Landscape Management. This position is not telework eligible.

Perform indicated and assigned landscaping duties. - 100%

• Performs landscaping duties, such as operating mowers, string trimmers, edger¿s, blowers, chainsaws and other motorized and non-motorized equipment.
• Operation of heavy machinery (tractors, skid steers, reel mowers)
• Prunes shrubs and trees, waters annual flowers, spray weeds and picks up trash on campus grounds
• Plant trees, shrubs, turf grass, annuals and perennials
• Apply pesticides
• Irrigation installation and repair
• Services equipment such as tractors, mowers, edger¿s, string trimmers, blowers, chainsaws, etc.
• Available in the event of an emergency
• Performs daily campus safety walks
• Other related duties as assigned.

Other Required Qualifications
Valid Georgia Driver's License Required

Required Experience
Minimum of 5 years related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Experience operating heavy machinery

Preferred Educational Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED preferred

Georgia pesticide license preferred

Knowledge of turf grass, pesticides, and irrigation systems

SKILLS
Ability to work within a team.
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Ability to operate delivery equipment.
Must be able to perform constant, intense physical labor; move & use equipment weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
Must be able to perform duties requiring push/pull activity, hand/finger coordination, constant repetitive motion of wrist, arm & shoulder; reach, climb, balance, crouch, twist, crawl, & kneel; work with chemicals, dust, fumes and odors associated with outdoor environment.
Must be able to wear safety and protective equipment as needed.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing.
