Job Summary

Clayton State University is seeking a Payroll and HR Specialist. This position reports to the AVP of Human Resources and is responsible for providing payroll support services to the campus in conjunction with the Shared Services Center. This position will also be responsible for establishing an HCM data review, analysis, and clean up protocol as well as lend administrative support services in a variety of functional areas within the Human Resources Department.

Responsibilities

In concert with the Shared Services Center (SSC) and the AVP of Human Resources, this position will provide the following payroll and HR services to Clayton State University and be shared with Atlanta Metro as needed.

  • This position, in conjunction with the AVP of Human Resources, will oversee the internal payroll processes for Clayton State University for biweekly and monthly payrolls in partnership with the Shared Services Center (SSC).
  • This position will receive and submit garnishments to the SSC as required or when received following the standardized submission process.
  • This position will send payroll notifications for holidays to institutional employees.
  • This position will be responsible for HCM data review, clean-up, and entry of data into HCM (faculty part-time budgets, ACA hours for part-time faculty, data updates, etc.).
  • This position will be responsible for Time and Labor functions in HCM.
  • This position will complete all Post Payroll reporting and journal entries and monitor the Daily Banking Report for payroll related items (ACH Rejects, garnishment refunds, Cobra admin fees, FSA fees, etc.)
  • This position will manage out of state payroll/unemployment registration enrollments for Clayton State and any correspondence from out of state or government entities (unemployment, IRS notices, etc.)
  • This position will assist with employment processes.
  • This position will assist with administrative and operational support of the HR office's daily operations.
  • All other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

This individual must be able to multi-task, work in a constantly changing environment and implement creative ideas to solve employee issues that may arise.

  • Bachelor¿s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • 1-3 years of professional experience. Experience in higher education preferred.
  • Experience working in human resources or payroll preferred.
  • Exemplary interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated experience in guiding students and families through the educational process.
  • Proficient technical skills in data management, data processing concepts, and student/employee information systems.
  • Proven track record as a role model in customer service.
