Position Summary

The HR Specialist will focus on the daily functions of the HR department and performs routine tasks related to recruiting, benefits, pay, leave of absence; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; and training development. The HR Specialist will support the Team Member Experience (TMX) Manager on all TMX initiatives and special projects.

Duties / Responsibilities

  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, partnering with the TMX Manager on any complex and/or sensitive matters.
  • Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
  • Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
  • Manage onboarding of new team members to include I-9 and E-Verify completion and benefit enrollment.
  • Ensure that people managers complete weekly timecards in Workday and that weekly bonus spreadsheets are complete, accurate, and submitted to payroll by the deadlines.
  • Conducts or acquires background checks and team member eligibility verifications to include motor vehicle record checks for those that drive in course and scope of their role.
  • Lead new hire orientation and team member recognition programs.
  • Partner with the TMX Manager to review and analyze key performance indicators to look for trends and root causes of turnover and retention.
  • Ensure people managers are completing stay interviews and provide stay interview training to new leaders.
  • Partner with TMX Manager and/or Training Coordinator to schedule and coordinate training programs along with leadership development workshops.
  • Support the performance management process, including team member evaluations and coaching.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR preferred
  • 2 years’ experience in a human resource role preferred
  • Experience with HRIS/Payroll systems and/or Workday a plus
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Trustworthy – capable of handling and maintaining highly confidential information
  • Must be detail oriented and organized
  • Able to adhere to tight deadlines
  • Must be able to communicate effectively and constructively with all levels in the organization
  • Knowledge of employment law and regulations

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to consistently operate a computer and other office productivity machinery such as telephone, calculator, copy machine, computer printer, etc.
  • Must be able to communicate with others via phone, email, and in person. Must be able to exchange accurate information with others.
  • Constantly works in an indoor, temperature-controlled, sealed-window office environment.
  • Work primarily involves sitting / standing.

Travel Requirements

  • As needed, up to 10%
