Position Summary: Provide engineering support to corporate engineering department and home building facilities through process design and systems programming. Requires the ability to understand engineering products (i.e. calculations, details, sections, specifications, and designs) and provide processes and systems programming to allow for efficient designs and project workflows.
Duties / Responsibilities
- Create and maintain library of custom engineering and construction programs/software using primarily Excel.
- Maintains programs/software with updates and enhancements.
- Provides user training for new team members and when new versions, updates, or enhancements are implemented.
- Assist in preparing CAD details and drawings as necessary to supplement engineering programming.
- Ensure that all work created is complete and accurate prior to distribution.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of residential construction methods.
- Performs R&D functions, which include documenting, building, and executing tests on materials to supplement engineering programming.
- Obtain Engineering Intern license and work toward obtaining Professional Engineering license.
- Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Civil, Mechanical, or Architectural Engineering from an ABET accredited university. EIT certification is a plus.
- Willing to work towards obtaining PE license.
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD or SolidWorks.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret building codes and architectural plans.
- Ability to perform various foundational engineering calculations.
- Proficient using programs such as, but not limited to, Microsoft Office Suite & Adobe Acrobat Professional, Microsoft Productivity programs such as Planner, Project, & SharePoint.
- Intermediate to Advanced level computer skills.
- Advanced skills in Excel and/or VBA.
- Attitude that reflects a sense of urgency and a commitment to service.
- Must be able to consistently operate a computer and other office machinery such as telephone, calculator, copy machine, computer printer, etc.
- Must be able to communicate with others via phone, email, and in person. Must be able to exchange accurate information with others.
- Constantly works in an indoor, temperature-controlled, sealed-window office environment.
- Work primarily involves sitting / standing.
- Ability and willingness for overnight travel
