Position Description: Inside Sales Specialist
Clayton Homes, a Berkshire Hathaway company and the nation’s leading housing provider, is a vertically integrated housing company that builds, sells, finances and insures affordable housing.
The Clayton Retail Discover Specialist is responsible for delivering prompt, accurate, courteous sales support via phone, email, text, or chat with Retail leads. They will communicate with customers to confirm their contact information, timeline to purchase, budgeting goals, land needs, as well as home interests. The Retail Discover Specialist will help customers begin the buying process and schedule an appointment to visit a Home Center before handing them off to a Clayton Retail Home Center. The Retail Discover Specialist must excel at building rapport over the phone, generating excitement and urgency with leads and can convert leads to Home Center visits. Lastly, they will work with Clayton Real Estate to help prospective buyers work with local real estate agents in the purchase of Clayton Real Estate homes.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contact leads via phone, email, SMS, web chat, and social media.
- Educate potential buyers on the purchase process and confirm their timeline.
- Verify pre-approval status and encourage budgeting through MyHome accounts.
- Assist leads with online applications and direct them to complete an eApp.
- Schedule home viewings and connect customers with Clayton Retail Home Centers.
- Follow up on applications, ensure receipt by Home Centers, and confirm completion.
- Provide ongoing support, answer questions, and maintain engagement with leads.
- Use sales tools and incentives to encourage return visits.
- Keep potential buyers informed about special offers and upcoming events.
- Maintain accurate documentation in Salesforce (Vantage) for proper follow-up.
- Collaborate with Clayton Real Estate Team to determine final purchase price.
- Guide home buyers through the sales process and facilitate closing with realtors.
- Communicate with retailers and realtors as needed for a smooth transaction.
- Attend Retail meetings to stay updated on promotions and marketing materials.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
Must Possess:
- Strong telephone, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to meet targeted goals.
- Experience with Vantage.
- Availability for evening shifts until 8:00 PM and some Saturdays.
- Knowledge of state laws and regulations related to home sales.
- 2 years of experience in Sales and/or Mortgage Lending.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Customer-centric with a pleasant voice.
- Well-organized and detail-oriented.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Ability to multi-task while maintaining high attention to detail.
- Sense of urgency in managing multiple cases and projects.
- Strong ability to communicate findings efficiently.

- Must pass a criminal background check and post-offer drug screening.
- High school diploma or equivalent (college degree is a plus).
