Position: Pastry Chef
Location: Claywood Restaurant
Type: Part Time that will carry into Full Time
About the Role:
Claywood is seeking an experienced and passionate Pastry Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in fine dining and a flair for creating innovative, seasonal desserts that complement our farm-to-table philosophy. You will lead all aspects of the pastry program, from concept development to execution, ensuring the highest standards of quality and presentation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and execute a rotating menu of seasonal desserts and baked goods that align with Claywood’s farm-to-table ethos.
- Collaborate with the Executive Chef to integrate dessert offerings with the overall menu.
- Source local and sustainable ingredients whenever possible.
- Prepare pastries, breads, and other baked goods with precision and creativity.
- Manage inventory, including ordering supplies and minimizing waste.
- Train and oversee staff in pastry preparation and plating.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant kitchen environment, adhering to all food safety regulations.
- Innovate new techniques and presentations to elevate the dessert program.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Pastry Chef in a fine dining or high-end restaurant setting.
- Expertise in a range of pastry techniques, including baking, chocolate work, and plated desserts.
- Strong creativity and a passion for developing unique, seasonal offerings.
- Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards.
- Ability to work collaboratively and communicate effectively with the kitchen team.
