Our Life and Career Coaching program is a comprehensive case management and employment program that provides individualized case management, supportive services, and career pathway development to youth and young adults between the ages of 16-24 in Licking County.
Participants are given the opportunity to gain knowledge and develop skills and work habits that increase the potential for employment success. From meeting basic academic requirements for entry in a career-training program to career-entry placements, this program helps participants address their barriers and challenges to achieving long-term self-sufficiency. Life and Career Coaches serve as personal advocates and assist individuals in addressing barriers, developing transferable skills, critical thinking, self-advocacy and a focus on a positive future.
Essential Functions
- Assist youth and young adults with achieving academic success by utilizing effective and comprehensive services and activities that include a variety of options for improving educational and skill competencies.
- Provide effective connections to educational institutions and employers.
- Implement integrated strategies for career pathway approaches that support postsecondary education, training and employment.
- Implement work-based training strategies and employment approaches to help participants develop essential skills that are best learned on the job.
- Provide continued support services to individuals who need them to participate and succeed in educational, employment and/or training activities.
- Make connections with youth and young adults and develop meaningful relationships.
- Complete and update an Individual Opportunity Plan and other documents related to career development plans.
- Maintain compliance with guidelines, policies and procedures and attend regular Coach meetings.
- Maintain proper paper and electronic documentation of individual and group interactions with participants in a manner that meets agency needs and complies with state and federal laws.
- Communicate regularly with leadership regarding any issues, concerns or challenges, as well as any pertinent updates on participants.
- Ability to meet set performance metrics.
- Special projects and other duties as assigned.
Position Specifications
- A minimum of three (3) years' experience providing community-based case management services with youth and young adults is recommended.
- Prior supervisory experience recommended.
- Ability to teach and lead various educational and team building activities.
- Abundant enthusiasm, patience, self-control, and knowledge of community resources.
- Understand how to communicate and work with youth and young adults ages 16-24.
- Must demonstrate reliable and consistent work habits, positive attitude, basic case management competencies, and ability to multitask.
- Professional attire and appearance required.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- A capacity to work collaboratively with diverse populations.
- Valid driver license and/or reliable transportation is required.
- Ability to pass a criminal background check.
- Bilingual proficiency (ability to speak a second or multiple languages) is preferred, but we also value effective communication through technology or other means. We encourage all qualified applicants to apply.
