Career Opportunity: Environmental Field Chemist
Clean Harbors, the leading provider of environmental, energy and industrial services throughout North America, seeks an entry-level Environmental Field Chemist (CleanPack Chemist) to join our team.
This critical role involves handling, segregating, packing, and inspecting chemical waste in accordance with Federal, State, and Local regulations and company policies.
You will work both indoors and outdoors at various locations, including plants, labs, customer sites, and are responsible for assisting with lab packs within customer facilities, household hazardous waste (HHW) collections, and lab moves.
This is a customer-facing position, working at customer sites daily.

Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure Health and Safety is the top priority by complying with safe work practices, policies, and processes.
- Prepare computer-generated packing lists, labels, manifests, and land disposal restriction notifications.
- Inspect storage areas and drums for leaks or spills and compliance with labeling regulations.
- Collect, segregate, and properly package waste chemicals for disposal to maximize efficiency and maintain compliance.
- Execute jobs at Clean Harbors customer locations, including Fortune 500 companies.
- Conduct projects/jobs according to site-specific Federal, State, and local regulations and health and safety plans.
- Sample and profile new waste streams or any waste needing analytical testing.
- Ensure drum count is correct and that drum conditions are shippable in accordance with company policies.
Required Qualifications:
- Valid Driver's license
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to obtain CDL Class B with hazmat and tanker endorsement within 6 months of employment
- Successful completion of background check, drug test, and physical

This is an entry-level management position with opportunities for growth and development across all stages of your career.
You can work in any of our 200 branch locations and transfer internally after successfully learning this position in approximately 18 to 36 months.
With training and experience, you'll have the opportunity to move into a Salary Management position and take on leadership roles within the company.
