Job Title: Container Mechanic
Clean Harbors is seeking a skilled Container Mechanic to join our team. This role involves sanding, preparing, inspecting, fabricating, cutting, welding, patching tarps or replacing tarps on containers at Clean Harbors locations and customer sites.
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Logging all necessary entries of time and materials into an electronic repair order system
- Maintaining established shop housekeeping and building maintenance obligations
- Performing surface preparation of equipment prior to painting
- Applying paint or similar coatings using HVLP, airless, or manual tooling and processes
Key Responsibilities:
Health and Safety
- Ensure Health and Safety is the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes
- Perform compliance and safety inspections; correct equipment deficiencies and perform preventative maintenance on company-owned equipment
Maintenance and Repair
- Perform welding, cutting, grinding, mechanical repair, and other metalworking techniques consistent with the container repair trade
- Maintain welding systems, general repair equipment, and shop tools in good working condition
Fabrication and Welding
- Perform fabrication, cutting, and welding on roll-off containers
- Produce quality products while focusing on given standards
The ideal candidate will possess:
- Welding (MIG & Stick) and mechanical experience in a fabrication/repair shop environment
- Experience performing flat welding with steel preferred
- Successful completion of Structural Welding test
- A valid driver's license and clean 3-year driving record are required
