What are the responsibilities and job description for the Traveling Field Inspector position at Clean Harbors?
Clean Harbors seeks a Traveling Field Inspector to oversee and document daily site activities for remediation and emergency response projects. This role requires collecting soil and groundwater samples, air monitoring data, and completing field activities under the direct supervision of a Field Project Manager/Field Supervisor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate Health and Safety as the top priority by following safe work practices, policies, and processes.
- Accurately document site activities, including cost tracking, worksheets, waste shipping logs, manifest management, health and safety, and other paperwork via laptop or mobile device.
- Work in the field alongside crew members and Project Managers/Field Service Supervisors.
- Travel to various project locations, including Wastewater Treatment plants, soil remediation sites, and others.
- Read and understand project documents and contracts.
- Gain certifications, such as 40-hour Hazwoper, OSHA 10, and possibly more, through company-provided training.
- Learn to calibrate air monitoring meters and associated Health & Safety equipment.
- Assist with project financial tracking and administrative functions, including report generation.
- Order and receive supplies for projects.
- Possibly operate heavy equipment.
Requirements:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or Engineering preferred.
- Safety-oriented individual with a commitment to Health and Safety.
- Willingness to perform manual labor.
- Able to work outside in all kinds of weather while utilizing prescribed Personal Protective Equipment.
- Valid Driver's License and clean Motor Vehicle Record required.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software and professional-level written/oral communication skills.
