Emerald Services , a Clean Harbors company, in Kent, WA (servicing Seattle Metro Area) is looking for an Union Environmental Tank Cleaner / Field Laborer to join their safety conscious team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the performance of tasks associated with emergency response, hazardous waste clean-up, site-remediation, equipment decontamination and handling of hazardous materials.
This position requires travel up to 1-3 months at a time. Hotel accommodations and per diem provided while traveling overnight. This position has set raises every 6 months per the Union contract.

Key Responsibilities :
Ensure Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and always acting in a safe mannerEngage in strenuous physical labor including lifting and pulling heavy objectsOperate light and heavy equipment, handles various hand tools and powered industrial tools, works with vibration-producing toolsWear and properly use a variety of personal protective Equipment (PPE). Including respirators, skin, face, hand and foot protection in a multiple number of combinationsWork in various temperatures indoors and outdoors in all weather conditionsWork in atmospheres and locations with the potential for exposure to various chemical and physical agents, some of which may be hazardous, toxic, or corrosiveWork in potentially elevated noise levels, confined spaces, including lifting in areas of low clearanceWork at elevations including working from ladders and scaffoldingAssist in field sampling activities and calibration of metersClimb ladders, scaffolding and into and out of trucks, tanks, and various other containersWork extended (>8 hrs.) time periods
Attend all compliance and safety update meetingsInspect drums for container integrity and regulatory complianceSafe loading and unloading of hazardous and non-hazardous wasteConduct waste stream sampling and profiling as necessaryFollow all local, state (provincial) and federal compliance regulations and rulesSafely operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT, local, state (provincial) and federal requirementsSafely observe all corporate operating guidelines and proceduresObserve all company environmental health and safety operating guidelinesPerform other duties as assignedBy position, ability to be on call for emergency response on rotating basis every other weekBy position, site-remediation, equipment decontamination, and the handling of hazardous materialsRequired Qualifications :
Industrial tank-cleaning experience a bonus but not requiredAvailable for overnight travel about (5- 10%) of the timeValid Driver's license, clean 3-Year MVR requiredTWIC card or the ability to obtain one upon hireReliable transportationAbility to perform physical functions per Key ResponsibilitiesThis position includes emergency response, a continuing condition of employment is agreeing to be on-call; on occasion working on weekends and holidays will be required; emergency response situations can extend beyond 8 hours, up to 12-24 hrs.Perform physical functions per job requirementsSuccessfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical, by positionPer OSHA's Respiratory Protection standard, 29 CFR 1910.34, employees in positions requiring respirators are required to meet facial hair standards.Clean Harbors is an equal opportunity employer.
