What are the responsibilities and job description for the INTERNAL ONLY: Senior Plant Maintenance Technician position at Clean Water Services?
The Water Resource Recovery Operations and Services Department is currently seeking a Senior Plant Maintenance Technician. This position coordinates, plans, schedules, reviews, and performs maintenance and repair of equipment and machinery at Clean Water Services (CWS) wastewater treatment facilities, and pump stations. Provides technical and troubleshooting support for conducting repair of equipment and machinery. Locates force mains and provides updated information to CAD staff and updates the Electronic Operator’s Manual. Organizes and assigns work involved in daily operations. Serves as a liaison within the Department to provide input during project design and coordination during construction. Provides Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) support.

- Works directly with the Supervisor to plan and implement the scheduled maintenance and repair work plan; provides input on resources and tools needed to accomplish work plans.
- Troubleshoots and performs reactive mechanical repairs, replacements, and modifications on mechanical equipment and machinery and provides recommendations to determine if repairs or maintenance work shall be done in-house or outsourced or if repair is a rebuild or replacement. Adheres to safety policies and procedures.
- Plans, coordinates, and performs force main work orders from the Oregon One-Call system within the specified time period; provides location information to CWS staff.
- Participates in design meetings for capital improvement projects and provides maintenance input and feedback to design team. Provides construction inspection and start-up of maintenance support for projects.
- Plans, prioritizes, coordinates, and communicates multiple work activities between Maintenance and all Divisions within the Department. Schedules, coordinates, and ensures needed resources (labor and parts) are available to accomplish work plans and minimize disruptions to operations. Handles after hour emergencies when required.
- Works directly with the Supervisor to perform inspections, assign, schedule, and review staff’s maintenance and repair work for compliance with CWS and Department policies and procedures. Conducts Job Safety Analysis for repair and maintenance work; provides safety planning guidance and checks for compliance.
- Performs scheduled preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment and machinery.
- Provides training for staff on CWS procedures and policies for safely troubleshooting reactive and preventative mechanical repairs, replacements, and modifications on mechanical equipment and machinery, and the CMMS system.
- Participates in CMMS maintenance software administration; monitors ongoing assigned scheduled work, checks on work status, updates and adjusts plans, and changes status of ongoing work; checks to ensure all work is recorded correctly; and participates in equipment and machinery condition assessment tasks. Maintains and updates information on all pump stations in the Electronic Operator’s Manual (EOM).
- Drives a CWS or personal vehicle for work related purposes.

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING GUIDELINES:
The following are the minimum qualifications for this position.
5 years experience as a licensed Millwright, 2 years of which must be Plant Maintenance Technician (PMT) experience in a CWS wastewater facility; and
6 months leadership experience, such as lead worker, project leader, team leader, crew leader or related experience; and
Accredited certificate, Millwright, or approved related certification (ABC, SMRP-CMRT: Certified Maintenance & Reliability Technician or equivalent).
CWS Leadership training program preferred.
CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS:
Upon selection, candidate must possess and maintain a valid State issued driver’s license.
