Job Title: General Accountant

Summary: The primary purpose of this position is to perform financial accounting functions necessary in supporting Divisional Controllers regarding general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, payroll and year end audit preparation.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS To PERFORM DUTIES
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Qualifications/Skills
Education and/or Experience: Minimum of an associate’s degree in accounting with a minimum of 3 years of practical job-related experience in financial accounting. Bachelor’s degree in accounting is preferred. Must be well-organized, detail-oriented, able to work under pressure, and have knowledge of PC applications (e.g. Microsoft Office, especially Excel).
Language Skills: Proficient in communicating both verbally and in writing (e.g. email) with employees, other departments, and outside contacts, including customers.
Mathematical Skills: Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide basic numbers, calculate percentages, and prepare mathematical formulas within Excel.
Reasoning Ability: Must be able to identify workflow process problems and provide possible solutions.
Certificates/Licenses/Registrations: Not Applicable
Physical Demands: Sit at workstation for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to adjust visual focus. May be required to reach, stoop and/or bend on an as needed basis. Must be able to climb stairs as necessary. Some light lifting may be required.
Work Environment: Traditional office atmosphere. Temperature standard.

- Reconciles prepaid, other assets and accruals and posts related journal entries.
- Reconciles prepaid and accrued commissions for outside sales representatives on a monthly basis and posts related journal entries.
- Prepares and posts weekly payroll journal entries.
- Reconciles monthly bank statements.
- Reconciles and prepares machine progress invoices.
- Maintains monthly warranty worksheets with adjustments.
- Reconciles fixed assets and updates depreciation schedules.
- Works closely with Divisional Controller to maintain accounting records
- Assists with the year-end audit procedures.
- Other miscellaneous tasks as needed.
