Job Summary
We are seeking an Analytical Chemist to collaborate with our R&D department. The ideal candidate has experience with analytical instrumentation as well as analytical chemistry assays. In this position, you will be responsible for maintenance of our analytical instruments, GC, GC/MS, HPLC, GPC, MS, and other instruments, development of analytical wet assays and performance of analytical R&D projects.
Responsibilities
Frequent lifting and moving of items up to fifty (50) pounds, bending, reaching above shoulder level, climbing stairs, pulling, prolonged standing or sitting may be required. Must have safe work habits and perform all duties in accordance with company safety policies and practices.
This position may require the use of personal protective equipment that may include eye or face protection, gloves, masks, respirators, safety shoes, earplugs, coveralls and/or uniforms that are provided by the company and its use is mandatory. All duties and responsibilities are essential functions and requirements and are subject to modification to accommodate individuals with disabilities.

Responsibilities
- Hands-on analytical testing skills.
- Maintain a calibration program for all lab equipment.
- Maintain lab analytical techniques and safety/regulatory requirements.
- Manage test results and distribute to appropriate departments.
- Work closely with team members, providing effective solutions to support operations and business development effort.
- Adherence to regulatory requirements, laboratory budgets and production schedules.
- Establish and improve laboratory procedures & processes by addressing concerns/issues & risks.
- Update and maintain the lab safety manual and SDS/PDS documents.
- Ensures the lab is clean & organized on a daily basis so that it is always safe and “shows well” during customer and agency visits/audits.
- Interacting daily with project team members developing and executing project objectives.
- Participates in factory acceptance tests and site acceptance tests.
- Participate in commissioning and startup activities, including loop checking and calibration of instruments and analyzers.
- Conferring with management and project stakeholders throughout a project’s life cycle.
- Other job duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, M.S. or Ph.D. in analytical chemistry is preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience working in the analytical chemistry field.
- Ideal candidates with a background in biorefinery, petroleum, or chemical industries are highly encouraged to apply.
- Strong knowledge of analytical instrument operation and maintenance.
- Project management experience a plus.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office.
