JOB SUMMARY:

The Law Enforcement Technician II (LET II/III) position is considered to be the extensive training phase for a

Records. LET II will be trained to do a variety of clerical duties for the Clear Creek County Sheriff's Office and works

for the Records Manager and Special Operations Captain. LET II primary function is to track, manage, and perform

all records and Body Worn Camera (BWC) request for partnering agencies and the public. They will be required to

handle requests by telephone and in person; perform basic and specialized data entry work, maintain basic and

specialized automated office and filing systems. The position requires independent problem solving and selfmotivation.

Previous experience working in law enforcement records and NIBRS knowledge preferred. Must obtain

Notary and E-Notary within 30 days. During the review and redaction process, personnel will be

exposed to disturbing, graphic and/or traumatic media and other documents on a continual basis.


PRINCIPAL JOB DUTIES:
Provides specific information on the responsibilities of the Records Section, divisional functions of the Sheriff's Office and responsibilities of the County Criminal and Civil Justice Systems and State E.J. Systems

Provides specific information concerning the various functions of municipal, county, state and federal agencies that provide services to the general public. In addition, must have knowledge of the numerous agencies and jurisdictions encompassed in Clear Creek County.

Responsible for handling the majority of the general telephone reception duties for the Sheriff's Office Records Division. This includes but is not limited to; determining the proper routing of calls, message taking, providing directions, and paging individuals as needed, payment processing and scheduling and intake of CCW's for the Records Manager.

Responsible for handling the initial general reception of the individuals arriving at the Sheriff's Office Records Section. This includes but is not limited to; providing information, directions, confirmation of appointments, and performance of various Records responsibilities.

Required to use various standard and specialized law enforcement computer systems and software applications. The following computer systems are utilized: personal computers, modem-based computers, digital retrieval, and local area networks. Some specific duties include usage of advanced word processing capabilities, sophisticated and detailed data entry and retrieval, computer data base management, dot matrix/laser printer applications and laser disk data-based photo retrieval system.

Responsible for using and maintaining various automated office equipment such as facsimile machines, electronic typewriters, microfilm and microfiche copier/printer, date/time stamp clock, electronic cash register, as well as those listed in #5.

Responsible for some transcription and entering of case reports into the RMS system and BWC system.

Required to maintain multiple chronological and alpha-numeric filing systems involving various forms of sensitive law enforcement documentation.

Required to perform and apply the procedures of the Records Section and the various corresponding procedures of the other Sections and Divisions of the Sheriff's Office, pertaining to records control and management.

Required to apply and administer specific statutory dissemination requirements, in accordance with state law and departmental policies and procedures. Must be able to adapt to varying everyday situations with the public and other governmental agencies.

Required to perform limited Civil related duties/procedures in order to complete special after-hours critical processing of documents from the court that may require immediate service. Support is also required during times when Civil personnel are not on duty.

Required to maintain Level 2 Security and be proficiency on the Colorado Crime Information Computer. Colorado Bureau of Investigation requires recertification every two years as an operator on the State computer system.

Proficency in records request documentation and tracking, records releases to include BWC footage.

Compiles and tabulates statistical data.

Opens, sorts, logs, stamps, and distributes Records mail.

Composes and prepares routine correspondence, relating to the Records Section's responsibilities

Processes payments utilizing online credit card system.

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / EDUCATION
Must be at least 18 years of age or older.

High School diploma or equivalent.

Two years clerical experience.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Typing speed of 45 words per minute minimum. Typing test required.

Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.

Ability to maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.

Ability to perform varied clerical tasks, under pressure of time and heavy workloads.

Must have the ability to properly use the English language: reading, writing, speaking and spelling.

Must be able to deal with information that is of confidential and/or unpleasant nature.

Must be able to learn and retain knowledge of varied and complex policies and procedures.

May be required to work special hours on short notice.

Must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, supervisors, other agencies, and the public.

Ability to work alone or independently during each shift.

Ability to follow written and/or verbal instructions.

The ability to make independent decisions and apply common sense in day-to-day work applications.

Must meet the Sheriff's Office's application standards and a corresponding background investigation.

Must meet the Sheriff's Office's standards on polygraph and drug screening examinations as required.

Must be able to use basic applicable workplace mathematics, in relationship to statistical reports and control of money.
