What are the responsibilities and job description for the Service Technician I position at Clear Creek ISD?
Responsible for assisting with preventive maintenance services, cleaning, and light vehicle repairs to ensure proper performance, safety, and reliability of vehicles for the transportation of CCISD students.
Qualifications
Education/Certification/Licensure
High School Intern, High School Diploma or GED
Valid Texas commercial driver’s license (Class B) or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
TASBT Courses: SBT 1 & 2 Certifications or be willing to obtain within 2 years. (Subject to TASBT Updates)
Pass an Annual Department of Transportation Physical (DOT)
Good driving record
Special Knowledge/Skills
Effective communication and interpersonalskills
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability.
Ability to understand and execute verbal and written instructions.
Must be cooperative and show initiative towards improving skills
Ability to work productively with minimal supervision.
Basic computer skills needed for data entry into maintenance systems.
Experience
2 years of experience as Service Technician I or instructional training from an accredited institution preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties
- Evaluate mechanical problems and perform minor repairs as assigned by Shop Manager or designee.
- Assist mechanics in performing preventative maintenance services and repairs.
- Perform multipoint inspections and hood checks on equipment daily.
- Comply with shop rules and safety measures.
- Help keep shop, equipment, and tools in clean and safe operation condition.
- Furnish personal basic hand tools.
- Take initiative to improve skills as a mechanic by participating in CCSID Fleet Technician Career Path.
- Perform all duties as assigned; indicating to the assigned supervisor when completed and another job assignment is required.
- Have all vehicle repairs inspected and approved by the assigned supervisor or before the vehicle is released for service.
- Maintain a safe, clean productive and efficient work area.
- Record time spent, parts used and repairs on the appropriate forms and fleet management software provided as each activity is completed.
- Immediately bring unsafe practice or conditions to the attention of the Shop Manager or designee.
- Ensures compliance of work and work area with appropriate state and federal regulations regarding equipment and equipment maintenance.
