Position Summary
The Senior Controls Engineer will be responsible for leading and managing daily operations related to onsite, unit-level, BMS, and EPMS control systems for data center projects. Acting as the primary on-site authority, this role will oversee a team of Controls Technicians and Engineers, ensuring safety standards are met and that all work is aligned with project objectives. The Superintendent will coordinate resources, schedules, and meetings, and serve as the central point of contact for any technical concerns. This position also involves training and mentoring Controls Technicians while maintaining effective communication with all stakeholders, including clients.
Key Duties
Supervise and manage daily troubleshooting of data center control systems.
Enforce safety standards on-site, conduct regular safety audits, and ensure best practices are followed.
Assign and oversee tasks for on-site Controls Technicians and Engineers, ensuring work is completed efficiently and in accordance with project timelines.
Lead team meetings to discuss project progress, safety updates, and technical challenges.
Act as the go-to technical expert on-site, escalating issues to the Controls Management team when necessary.
Maintain comprehensive and accurate documentation of work performed to ensure compliance with project requirements.
Required Education & Qualifications
Relevant technical certification in HVAC systems or a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a similar field.
At least 5 years of experience working with control systems, ideally in a data center or similar environment.
Strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices in a field-based setting.
Proficiency in control systems hardware, software, and diagnostic tools.
Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in managing or mentoring teams in the field.
Excellent communication skills for coordinating tasks and resolving issues effectively.
