Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Strategic Communications Support Lead to provide expert guidance on communication strategies, stakeholder messaging, and media training in support of government offices. This Communications Support Lead will play a pivotal role in developing and executing comprehensive communication plans that effectively articulate the Information Technology Category (ITC) strategic plan and value proposition to both internal and external stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of government communications, stakeholder engagement, and media relations. This role requires strong leadership in strategic messaging, content development, and training delivery, ensuring that government agencies effectively communicate their mission, objectives, and initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement communications strategies that effectively convey the ITC strategic plan and value proposition.
- Craft clear, consistent, and compelling messaging for internal and external stakeholders, including government executives, industry partners, and the public.
- Align communications efforts with government priorities, policies, and strategic initiatives to enhance engagement and awareness.
- Lead communication efforts to strengthen relationships with key stakeholders, including federal agencies, industry groups, and the media.
- Develop targeted outreach strategies to improve engagement and understanding of ITC initiatives across different audiences.
- Manage media interactions, ensuring consistent and accurate representation of government messaging.
- Create press releases, talking points, fact sheets, presentations, and reports to support ITC initiatives.
- Oversee the development of digital content, newsletters, and social media strategies to enhance visibility and engagement.
- Ensure all content aligns with federal branding, compliance, and accessibility standards (e.g., Section 508 compliance).
- Develop and deliver individualized and group media training for government officials and key stakeholders.
- Prepare spokespeople for public appearances, media interviews, and congressional testimony by providing coaching on messaging, tone, and delivery.
- Conduct mock interviews and crisis communication drills to enhance media readiness.
- Track and analyze communication effectiveness, adjusting strategies based on feedback and performance metrics.
- Utilize data-driven insights to refine messaging, stakeholder engagement efforts, and media outreach.
- Implement best practices and emerging trends in strategic communications to continuously enhance government messaging efforts.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's preferred
- A minimum of 5 years of professional experience assisting with the development of strategic messaging
- In-depth knowledge of the General Services Administration (GSA) (or similar federal experience) ITC value proposition and an ability to articulate how it impacts the day-to-day ITC organization
- A minimum of 2 years of experience developing and delivering media training to ITC executives
