Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled and experienced Grading Foreman to oversee and lead grading projects from initial site preparation through to readiness for asphalt paving. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with GPS-guided grading equipment, specifically Topcon systems, as well as proficiency in traditional grading methods without GPS assistance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a crew in grading operations, ensuring all work is performed in compliance with company standards and project specifications.
- Operate GPS-guided grading equipment, specifically Topcon, and perform manual grading as required to achieve precise grade specifications.
- Interpret site plans and grading plans, and adjust operations in real-time to meet project requirements.
- Coordinate with project managers and other construction teams to ensure site preparation is completed on schedule and is ready for subsequent asphalt paving.
- Conduct regular safety meetings and enforce strict adherence to safety protocols among crew members.
- Train and mentor crew members in both GPS and non-GPS grading techniques.
- Manage and maintain equipment, ensuring all machinery is in optimal working condition.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Grading Foreman or similar leadership role in construction or land development.
- Expertise in operating GPS grading systems, with specific experience in Topcon preferred.
- Strong capability in performing precise grading operations without the use of GPS.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to manage and motivate a team.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to changing conditions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A commitment to safety and knowledge of relevant regulations and compliance standards.
