Job Summary: Director of Nutrition Services applies professional knowledge, ethics, and administrative skills in directing a comprehensive school nutrition program for the Clear Lake Community Schools in compliance with the federal and state laws and regulations, local and state health ordinances and Clear Lake Community School District policies. Director of Nutrition Services employs exemplary leadership and communication skills in order to maintain healthy morale, resolution of operational issues and strong working relationships with FSD, staff, students, teachers and parents. This position reports directly to the superintendent.
Job Qualifications: Must have training, experience and ability to direct the entire nutrition services program. Must have knowledge of large quantity meal preparation, menu planning and completing federal, state and local reports. Must have purchasing, communication, local food purchasing experience, management and strong human relations skills.
Essential Functions: 1. Supervise, coordinate and direct the work of the nutrition service employees.
2. Provide leadership for developing objectives of the nutrition program.
3. Determine what personnel are necessary to meet the objectives of the program.
4. Ensure that all aspects of the program are in compliance with federal, state and local regulations.
5. Responsible for ordering food, supplies and equipment for nutrition program.
6. Will use a nutrient analysis program to create district meal menus.
7. Ensure the cleanliness of all nutrition service facilities and proper use of equipment.
8. Ensure the proper handling, preparing and storage of all foods.
9. Use best practices when purchasing food using commodity dollars.
10. Responsible for accurately completing all state reporting - including but not limited to audit reports, verification reports, Hawk-i, monthly claims and EOY inventory reports.
11. Use proper procurement procedures for the purchase of all food, supplies & equip.
12. Oversees the hiring of nutrition personnel and the professional training of personnel. 13. Process all free and reduced applications.
14. Continue nutrition education program using school cafeterias as learning laboratories (This program is developed already)
