We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Data Modeler to join our dynamic team in the banking sector. The Data Modeler will play a crucial role in designing, implementing, and maintaining data models that support our financial operations and reporting needs. This role requires a deep understanding of data modeling concepts, banking data requirements, and the ability to translate business needs into effective data solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Modeling: Design and develop conceptual, logical, and physical data models to support banking operations, including customer data, transaction data, risk management, and financial reporting.
  • Requirements Analysis: Collaborate with business analysts, data analysts, and other stakeholders to gather and understand data requirements. Translate these requirements into comprehensive data models and schemas.
  • Data Integration: Work with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) teams to ensure that data models are integrated effectively with data sources, data warehouses, and other systems.
  • Database Design: Develop and optimize database schemas, tables, and relationships to support data integrity, performance, and scalability.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain detailed documentation of data models, including data dictionaries, entity-relationship diagrams, and data flow diagrams.
  • Quality Assurance: Conduct data model validation and verification to ensure accuracy, consistency, and compliance with banking regulations and standards.
  • Performance Tuning: Monitor and optimize data model performance to ensure efficient query execution and data retrieval.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with IT teams, data engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment between data models and business needs.
  • Compliance: Ensure that data models adhere to banking industry regulations, data governance policies, and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, or a related field. Master’s degree or relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Data Management Professional) is a plus.
  • Experience: 3-5 years of experience in data modeling, preferably within the banking or financial services industry.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in data modeling tools (e.g., ER/Studio, IBM InfoSphere Data Architect, Microsoft Visio), database management systems (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL), and SQL. Experience with data warehousing solutions and BI tools is a plus.
  • Knowledge: Strong understanding of banking data structures, regulatory requirements, and data management best practices.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights.
  • Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy and attention to detail in data modeling and documentation.
