Upper Elementary Teacher (5th & 6th)
Overview
The Clear Spring School is accredited with ISACS and NAIS, and is a progressive school (PreK-12). Founded in 1974, Clear Spring School focuses on education as a lifelong process and the core of our curriculum are the 5Cs of communication, collaboration, creativity, critical thinking and character. CSS strives to create a community of learners, adults and children alike who demonstrate the skills of living in the 21st century and contribute to the communities within which they live.
Clear Spring School is seeking a full time teacher to join our team of dynamic educators for the 2025-26 school year. A successful candidate will have the desire to learn themselves and meet the changing needs of progressive education. Candidates must be aware that this is an outdoor education program and lessons should be designed around hands-on and project based science in the field.
Job Responsibilities (Full time)
Create 8-10 week block classes that integrate multiple academic areas (language arts, math, social studies) into one thematic unit based in the sciences (biology, ecology, earth science, geology, etc…)
Working with students of mixed age and ability levels
Able to collaborate and plan curriculum with a team of teachers
Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities
Observe and evaluate student's performance and development
Assign and assess class work and projects
Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development
Manage student behavior in the classroom
Travel with students for camping and overnight trips
- Camp with 1st-6th twice a year in accordance with the CSS Camping guidelines
- 5th-6th grades travel in Arkansas in the spring months in accordance with the CSS Travel guidelines and curriculum
Communicate regularly with families about student progress
Participate in ongoing training, professional development, and continued education
Develop lesson content based on the CSS curriculum document
Participate in school events including all-school meetings, open houses, end of year events, etc
Job Qualifications
Teaching experience or experience working with students
Bachelor's degree or the equivalent
Strong communication skills

Pay: $28,000.00 - $35,000.00 per year
