SUMMARY :
We are seeking a versatile Systems Administrator to join our team. The Systems Administrator will be responsible for managing various aspects of our IT infrastructure, including virtualization, Exchange, and working closely with the Security Engineer to ensure the security of our Cisco environment. The ideal candidate should be comfortable wearing multiple hats and possess a diverse skill set to handle various tasks efficiently.
The IT infrastructure consists of on-premise servers, which are hosted within the organization's physical premises. The Systems Administrator will be responsible for managing and maintaining these on-premise servers, ensuring their availability, performance, and security.
DUTIES :
System Administration :
- Install, configure, and maintain server operating systems and applications, ensuring their integrity and optimal performance.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and perform necessary upgrades and patches.
- Manage virtualization technologies, such as VMware, including the deployment and maintenance of virtual machines.
- Perform regular backups and implement disaster recovery plans to ensure system availability.
Exchange Administration :
Administer and maintain Exchange email systems, including user management, mailbox configuration, and troubleshooting.Monitor email infrastructure for performance, security, and reliability.Collaborate with end-users to address email-related issues and provide timely support.Security Collaboration :
Work closely with the Security Engineer to implement and enforce security policies, procedures, and best practices.Assist with security-related tasks, such as vulnerability assessments, security audits, and incident response.Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.Cisco Environment :
Assist with the administration and maintenance of Cisco networking equipment.Configure and troubleshoot network devices, such as routers, switches, and firewalls.Collaborate with the Security Engineer to implement network security measures and monitor network traffic.Jack of All Trades :
Adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple responsibilities effectively.Provide technical support to end-users, resolving hardware and software issues.Collaborate with different teams and stakeholders to address IT-related requirements and projects.On-Premise Server Administration :
Manage and administer the organization's on-premise server infrastructure.Ensure the availability, reliability, and optimal performance of the on-premise servers.Perform regular maintenance tasks, including updates, patches, and hardware replacements.Monitor server health and resource utilization to proactively identify and resolve issues.Backup and Recovery :
Implement and maintain robust backup and recovery solutions for the on-premise servers.Conduct regular backups of critical data and test restoration procedures to ensure data integrity.Develop and execute disaster recovery plans to minimize downtime and data loss in the event of a server failure or disaster.Hardware and Software Procurement :
Collaborate with the IT team to identify hardware and software requirements for the on-premise servers.Assist in the procurement process, including vendor evaluation, price negotiation, and purchase order management.Coordinate with vendors and suppliers for timely delivery and installation of server hardware and software.Capacity Planning :
Monitor server utilization trends and forecast future resource requirements.Plan and implement capacity upgrades, such as additional storage, memory, or processing power, to meet growing demands.Optimize server utilization through load balancing, resource allocation, and performance tuning.Documentation and Reporting :
Maintain accurate documentation of the on-premise server infrastructure, including configurations, network topology, and procedures.Generate regular reports on server performance, capacity, and security metrics.Provide documentation and insights to assist in decision-making and strategic planning.REQUIREMENTS :
Proven 2-3 years experience as a Systems Administrator, preferably in a multi-hat role.Strong knowledge and experience with virtualization technologies, such as VMware.Proficiency in managing Exchange email systems, including user administration and troubleshooting.Familiarity with Cisco networking equipment and basic network configuration.Understanding of security principles, best practices, and the ability to collaborate with a Security Engineer.Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.In-depth knowledge and experience in managing on-premise server infrastructure.Proficiency in configuring and administering server operating systems, such as Windows Server or Linux.Strong understanding of server hardware components and configurations.Experience with backup and recovery solutions for on-premise servers.Familiarity with capacity planning and performance optimization techniques.Excellent troubleshooting skills.Detail-oriented with strong documentation and reporting capabilities.Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams.Strong organizational and time management skills.EDUCATION :
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications are a plus.
