Job description
LPN or RN for leading adolescent residential treatment center in the Pacific Northwest, to provide “triage care” (i.e., makes determination if the illness/injury of the student warrants care at an emergency room, M.D., specialist, or whether appropriate care can be provided at the Academy). Administers medication to student and trains designated direct care staff in the administration of medication. Essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Must advocate for the physical, mental, emotional, and social health of the students
- Perform health screenings as needed or ordered by the Medical Director
- Provide healthcare to students in accordance to nursing scope, knowledge, and experience
- Must operate within nursing scope of practice at all times and report immediately to the Head of Medical Management whenever there are uncertainties
- Communicate with parents, staff, doctors, psychiatrist, pharmacist, and any medical facility that takes part in providing care for each student
- Communicates with doctor on a regular basis
- Sets up and maintains laboratory accounts used for UDS collection on enrollment day
- Works closely with clinical team regarding medication management for all students
- Administers psychotropic and other medication to students via best practices
- Documents progress notes, admissions notes, and special notes in the medical record in a timely and professional manner, in accordance with charting guidelines
- Adhere to other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
- Must be a Registered Nurse RN, BSN preferred. May be an LPN based on previous experience. Must have current licensure to practice nursing in the State of Montana
- Preferably have 1-3 years of experience in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing
- Must have a working knowledge of general psychiatric and emergency (triage) nursing practice
Job Type: Part-time
Salary: $25.00 to $35.00/hour, depending on level of experience and credentialing
