The Environmental Scientist will facilitate land development approvals and permitting.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

· Wetland delineations, field reviews and agency coordination (state and federal).

· Knowledge of wetland indicator plants, hydric soils and wetland hydrology.

· Wetland impact permitting with Water Management Districts, US Army Corps of Engineers (COE), counties and local governments.

· Wetland impact functional assessment (UMAM) scoring.

· Listed species studies and “take”/relocation permitting.

· Outline and plan data collection methods to be used for land development approvals.

· Collect and analyze environmental data.

· Study data to determine its validity, quality, and scientific significance.

· Analyze correlations between human activities and environmental effects.

· Prepare reports, exhibits, oral briefings, and documents to communicate scientific and technical information to clients and agencies.

· Provide information to governmental agencies, environmental programs, industries, or the public.

· Review and study environmental technical standards, guidelines, and regulations.

· Extensive knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations.

· Some knowledge of computer modeling, digital mapping, and global positioning systems (GPS) equipment preferred.

Educational/Vocational/Previous Experience Recommendations:

· Bachelor’s degree in environmental science or related field required; Master’s degree preferred.

· Five years of related experience.

· Microsoft Office Suite proficiency required.

· GIS and/or AutoCAD experience desired.

Working Environment and Conditions/Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

· Ability to traverse various types of terrain for extended periods of time.

· Physical ability to perform outdoor field work.

· Able to work outside in a variety of weather conditions.

· Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

· Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds at a time.

· Employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year
