This role has a hybrid local work model. Meaning the employee will report to our Spokane, WA office, 1-2 days per week, but also have the flexibility to work from their home office as well.

What you will do:

As a member of the HR Services Team, the Sr. Analyst for Benefits and Compensation supports and drives initiatives enabling the organization’s objectives to maintain a competitive position in the market. This position will assist in the development, implementation and administration of company-wide benefits and compensation programs.  Specializing in the following areas: Health and Welfare, 401(k) and Retirement, Disability and Leave of Absence, Base and Incentive pay administration This position is employee facing and data driven focusing on program execution and leadership.

Analysis and Development 

  • Complete compensation and benefit surveys, gather information from multiple sources, analyze survey data and help determine market competitiveness.
  • Analyse current plan data, prepare reports and presentations and make recommendations for moderately complex projects.
  • Assist in planning, developing and redesign of company benefit and compensation programs including analysing costs. Use spreadsheet, database and statistical software applications to analyze data, spot trends and develop forecasts.
  • Provide analysis of jobs, hourly wages, salaries and incentives in order to evaluate internal equity, external competitiveness and legal compliance of company’s pay practices. Recommend FLSA (Fair Labor Standards Act) exemptions.
  • Develop and deliver employee communications including educational sessions and open enrolment meetings.

Administration of Plans 

  • Participate in the benefit plan renewal process. Review both short- and long-term cost estimates/projections and relevant statistical analyses regarding modifications to benefit programs, claims experience and implementation of new programs.
  • Prepare and review documents such as summary plan descriptions and program designs.
  • Lead the annual open enrollment process for active, retiree and COBRA participants. Conduct audits and testing of data input after enrolment is complete
  • Manage the eligibility, claims and administration fee payments for all benefit related vendors, including the outsourced consolidated billing process.
  • Ensure compliance with all ERISA and regulated filings including 5500, SAR and mandatory healthcare/retirment notices. Manage audit processes such as claims, dependent and/or vendor performance guarantee audits.

Leadership

  • Act as point of contact for Human Resources Managers/Representatives for questions.
  • Work with HR Managers to resolve problems through research and assessment of each situation. Recommend alternative solutions that address both the needs of the Company and the individual(s).
  • Lead small to medium sized project implementations within area of responsibility with limited supervisor interaction
  • Able to act as a backup for the benefits and compensation managers and ensure business continuity

What you will need

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business administration or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years professional and/or administrative experience in the benefits or compensation field or an appropriate combination of education and experience that would allow full knowledge in functional areas.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and basic knowledge of Access required.
  • Knowledge of HRIS, payroll, accounting and statistics preferred.
  • Advanced level of knowledge of Human Resources practices, principles and regulations (including Sec. 125, COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, etc.).
  • Must be able to work independently and as part of a team with willingness to do entry level tasks.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills required.
  • Excellent recordkeeping skills and strong attention to detail required.
  • Ability to read and interpret written documentation.
  • Some mental/visual/physical fatigue from computer terminal use.

Compensation ranges are estimates based on market data.  Actual offers account for internal equity and candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, education, experience, and geographic location.
