Job Summary
The Field Technician III - Maintenance will be responsible for the servicing and maintenance of the water & wastewater systems and will collaborate closely with the Project Manager and cross-functional teams to ensure that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with the project scope and objectives. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and a keen eye for detail.
Responsibilities
Under direct supervision, performs general maintenance and repairs of city/ county water/ wastewater utility systems
Operation of vehicles and equipment to include power tools, pumps, mowers, weed trimmers, chainsaws, etc.
Review service orders to determine locations where services need to be performed
Read water meters and enter data in route logs
Maintains required paperwork and logs in compliance with Federal, State and local rules and regulations
Inspect meters and connections to determine defects, faults and damages
Repairs and/or replaces wastewater systems, broken water mains and service lines
Communicate problems with meters or incorrect readings to immediate supervisor
Operates a company vehicle to conduct meter readings for assigned route
Connect and disconnect utility services as directed
Ensure that all data in the utility log book is maintained correctly, and kept updated
Locate underground utility lines
Work in a safe manner and in accordance with safety policies
Pursue water/ wastewater state certifications
Wear steel toe protective footwear and other personal protection equipment during regular work hours
Performs other related duties as directed

Job Qualifications
High school diploma or GED
Valid drivers license and acceptable Motor Vehicle Records are required
3-5 yrs of field operations experience within a water/ wastewater utilities environment
1 years of experience operating heavy equipment
Ability and willingness to work independently
Ability to understand water/ wastewater systems. Basic electrical, pipefitting, and/or welding is a plus
Strong attention to detail
Ability to perform sustained physical labor, including heavy lifting and working above your head and below your feet
Neat and clean in appearance, courteous and friendly with the general public and willing to be a part of a team
Must be available to work overtime and on-call as needed
