The Specialty Clinic RN provides specialized clinical support across multiple medical specialty programs. Including Obstetrics, Wound Care, Orthopedics, Neurosurgery, and more. Engages fully within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication, mutual respect, and shared decision-making to achieve quality patient care. Integrates best current evidence into clinical practice and uses data to monitor and improve the outcomes of care processes. Uses information and technology to communicate, manage knowledge, mitigate error, and support decision-making
Essential Job Functions:
- Coordinates comprehensive patient care processes across multiple specialty programs

Provides direct patient care, including:
- Administering injections and immunizations
- Taking and recording patient vital signs
- Conducting detailed patient assessments
- Assisting with minor office surgical procedures
- Manages complex patient care needs and comprehensive treatment plans
- Coordinates interdisciplinary care and serves as a liaison between clinic, hospital, and community resources

Performs clinical responsibilities:
- Recording patient information into medical charts
- Documenting clinical interventions
- Participating in specialty-specific care protocols
- Assisting with virtual care consultations
- Performs department core and job-specific clinical competencies.
- Provides and/or serves as a resource for patient and family education.
- Responsible for patient flow including pre-examination triage, documentation of vital signs, summary of patient complaints, and moving patients into and out of exam rooms.
- Maintains inventory of clinical supplies at a reasonable level, medicines in current status, and keeps clinical area neat and clean.
- Follows hospital exposure control plans/blood-borne and airborne pathogens.
- Maintains confidentiality of all hospital and patient information at all times. Follows HIPAA regulations and policies.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential job function.
- Communicate with patients, families, and co-workers in person, in writing, and on the telephone.
- Must be able to take call hours per our OB Call Policy.
Minimum Qualifications:
- AD or BS in accredited nursing program.
- 1-2 years previous experience in a clinic outpatient or specialty setting is preferred.
- Current Idaho RN or LPN license, in good standing
- BLS, ACLS and NRP required or obtained within 6-12 months of hire

Previous Labor and Delivery experience preferred
- External Fetal Monitoring class through an approved course and additional training days in the Labor and Delivery department at Kootenai Health required if no previous experience
- PALS is highly recommended but not required
Full time, 40 hours per week
