Residence Life Coordinator
Position Overview:
The Residence Life Coordinator (RLC) is responsible for the management and administration of residence halls and the overall student experience within the residential community. The RLC fosters a positive living-learning environment, enhances student engagement, and supports residents’ personal growth and academic success.
Key Responsibilities:
Community Development
- Create and promote a positive, inclusive, and engaging living environment for residents.
- Plan and implement programs and activities that enhance community living and personal development.
Staff Supervision
- Recruit, train, and supervise Resident Assistants (RAs) and other student staff.
- Provide ongoing support, mentorship, and evaluation for student staff.
Crisis Management
- Respond to emergency situations and implement appropriate interventions.
- Serve as a resource for residents experiencing personal, social, or academic challenges.
- Participate in Professional Staff On-Call Rotation .
Policy Enforcement
- Uphold and enforce university policies and procedures within the residence halls.
- Address behavioral issues and conduct meetings with students as necessary.
- Serve as student conduct hearing officer for lower level offenses.
Collaboration
- Work with various departments, including academic affairs, counseling services, and student life, to support student needs.
- Participate in committees and initiatives related to residence life and student engagement.
Assessment and Evaluation
- Gather feedback from residents and assess program effectiveness to enhance the residential experience.
- Prepare reports and presentations on residence life initiatives and outcomes.
Administrative Duties
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, meetings, and programming efforts.
- Coordinate Move-In, Move-Out, Break Housing, and Health & Safety Inspections.
- Assist in budget management and resource allocation for residence hall activities.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Master’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, Social Work, or related field preferred.
- Previous experience in housing, residence life, or student affairs is highly desirable.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations and manage conflict effectively.
Working Conditions:
This is a 40-hour/week, live-on campus position and may require evening and weekend hours to support resident needs and programming. On-call responsibilities may be required to address emergencies and crises.
Compensation:
The salary is $40,000 plus a one-bedroom apartment, utilities, reserved parking spot, and free meals when dining is open.
