Position Title: General Fabricator

Department: Fabrication, 2nd Shift (M-Th 1:30pm-12:00am)

Brief Summary of Position Purpose:
The General Fabricator, working on the 2nd shift at Cleaveland/Price, is responsible for machining specified pieces using a variety of materials and techniques. This is a generalized role that encompasses all work orders and stations in the Fabrication department. The role involves interpreting blueprints, work orders, and schematics to ensure accurate and precise fabrication. Team members in a Fabrication position may be asked to use any equipment or run any machinery in the facility, after proper training. The General Fabricator works collaboratively with other team members and uses sound judgment to make task-specific decisions. Safety, compliance, and maintaining a clean, orderly work environment are of paramount importance.
Essential Functions:
- Consults blueprints, work orders, and/or schematics to safely construct specified structure; develops additional sketches if needed.
- Selects appropriate material, technique, and tool(s) for each job based on job specifications and requirements.
- Cuts, bends, and shapes metal to required dimensions.
- Measures, cuts, and welds pieces together according to specifications, blueprints, or directions.
- Connects pieces or secures seams by riveting, rolling, soldering, or using steel screws.
- Performs assigned work on assembly lines such as punching holes for screws or bending gutters.
- Uses appropriate machinery and software applications to complete assigned jobs.
- Coordinates with other process owners to ensure seamless transition of the production process.

- Ensures work practices are compliant with all OSHA and ISO standards. Ensures the proper utilization of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and task-specific tools and equipment for the highest level of safety for oneself and others.
- Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe work environment.
- Follows all company and job-specific safety rules and regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned, which may include operating a machine or related tasks.

Demonstrated proficiency with the following equipment/tools:
- Air Tools: Air belt sanders, Air grinders, Air wrenches
- Calipers, Deburring tools
- CNC lathes and mills
- Conventional drill press
- Micrometers, Rulers, Vises & Wrenches
Credentials, certifications & Industry-Specific Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a General Fabricator or similar role.
- Proficiency in blueprint reading and interpretation.
- Knowledge of various materials, techniques, and tools used in fabrication.
- Ability to demonstrate required proficiency level/competency to successfully perform job.
Physical Requirements
The General Fabricator position at Cleaveland/Price's manufacturing plant entails meeting specific physical demands while performing job responsibilities. These requirements include constant standing, walking, reaching, stretching, and use of hands, wrists and forearms. Frequently this job will require team members to lift, grasp, push, and pull objects up to 35lbs without assistance. Occasionally, team members will be required to twist and bend, crawl and kneel, as well climb and balance to reasonable heights during operations of their positions. This position will work in a machine shop environment where exposure to noise, fumes, and dust is possible. The role may also involve exposure to various metals and chemicals. Employees should be prepared to wear PPE as needed, in compliance with safety regulations and company policies.
