Position Title: Crater
Department: Assembly
Location: Trafford, PA
Brief Summary of Position Purpose:
To build and prepares wooden crates in preparation for the shipment of manufactured goods.
May operate on First Shift (6:00am – 2:30pm) or Second Shift (1:30pm – 12:00am).
Essential Functions:
- Follows all work instructions and requirements to build and label wooden crates and boxes.
- Keeps accurate records/documents work procedures.
- Coordinates work with shipping schedule.
- Operates power cut off saw, lift tables, power shrink wrap and other electronic tools.
- Reads blueprints.
- Ensures quality and accuracy in work.
- Operate fork truck, crane and other machinery.
- Ensures work is completed in a safe and efficient manner.
- Observes all safety rules and requirements related to the operation of tools, machinery, and the disposal of scrap or other materials.
- Ensures work practices are compliant with all OSHA and ISO standards.
- Ensures proper utilization of required PPE and task-specific tools and equipment to ensure the highest level of safety for self and others.
- Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe work environment.
- Follows all company and job-specific safety rules and regulations.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Demonstrated proficiency with basic math skills.
- Ability to read blueprints and follow standard work instructions.
- Ability to demonstrate required proficiency level/competency to successfully perform job.
Demonstrated proficiency with the following equipment/tools:
- Ability to operate hand tools, including air powered nail and staple guns, wood saws, steel and plastic banding, measuring tools, such as a tape measure, and other related tools and equipment.
- Ability to utilize a computer to access drawings, work instructions, or other documents.
Credentials, certifications & Industry-Specific Experience
- High school degree or equivalent
- Ability to obtain and maintain certification to drive and operate a fork truck, crane and/or other related vehicles or machinery.
Physical Requirements
- Required to stand, walk and sit; talk or hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands to finger, handle and feel objects or controls; reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, grasp and lift up to 50 pounds.
- Standard personal protective equipment (PPE) required while on the shop floor or in other work area where mandated (i.e. steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, and/or other applicable PPE).
