Brief Summary of Position Purpose:

To perform a variety of industrial cleaning tasks categorized as custodial, janitorial/housekeeping work

Essential Functions:

Performs a variety of industrial cleaning tasks categorized as custodial, janitorial and housekeeping work throughout the manufacturing and office environment, including but not limited to the following:
- Collects garbage (shop and office)
- Operates ride on industrial sweeper (not all custodians)
- Operates vacuum o Mops floors
- Cleans office desks and chairs
- Wipes meeting room tables and chairs
- Cleans and sanitizes toilets and sinks
- Cleans windows
- Washes laundry (i.e. washing rags)
- Manages inventory of cleaning and janitorial supplies o
- Occasionally cleans out refrigerators
- Disinfects time clocks, water fountains, door knobs and other high-touch areas
Ensures proper utilization of required PPE and task-specific tools and equipment to ensure the highest level of safety for self and others
Maintains a clean, orderly, and safe work environment.
Follows all company and job-specific safety rules and regulations.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Demonstrated Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

General knowledge of manufacturing environment hazards/MSDS.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Prior commercial custodial, janitorial or industrial housekeeping experience preferred.
General knowledge of manufacturing environment hazards/MSDS.
Ability to learn floor plan/building layout.
Ability to follow instruction while also demonstrating independent judgement.
Demonstrated initiative and work ethic.
Ability to demonstrate discretion.
Ability to use standard custodial equipment as noted under Essential Functions.

Credentials, certifications & Industry-Specific Experience

High school diploma or equivalent.
Prior commercial custodial, janitorial or industrial housekeeping experience preferred.
Ability to demonstrate required proficiency level/competency to successfully perform job.

Physical Requirements

Required to maneuver the entire facility including stairs, fine hand dexterity, reach above head and grasp things off of shelves. Regularly required to stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, and lift up to 50 pounds from the ground.
Standard personal protective equipment (PPE) required while on the shop floor or in other work area where mandated (i.e. steel-toed shoes, safety glasses, and/or other applicable PPE).
Must be comfortable with working in a heavy manufacturing setting, include extensive walking, traversing steps and occasional uneven surfaces, being near loud or sudden noises, and using caution in the vicinity of operating machines.
