The Challenge
The Mechanical Design Engineer will design new products and improve existing products using their knowledge of mechanical design, technology, materials, and manufacturing processes. The Engineer is responsible for engineering new and existing products, helping to launch new products, CAD modeling/designing, producing prototypes, and factory testing the designs. Will work in a team environment, often consulting with other engineers, manufacturing, and product managers.

What You Will Do:
- Reviews customer specifications to identify engineering requirements, including accessories
- Prepares mechanical designs with 3D CAD software
- Prepares general arrangement drawings for customer review
- Performs design review and technical discussions with customers as required, explaining or resolving technical matters
- Performs structural design and calculations
- Performs industrial ventilation calculations
- Prepares bill of materials (BOMs) and bill of routing.
- Prepares manufacturing technical drawings for production
- Researches and develops solutions for improvements to current product lines
- Specifies system components or direct modification of products
- Ensures designs conform to engineering design standards and practices as well as agreed upon specifications
- Provides manufacturing support and assistance for product and prototype build
- As may be necessary, assists with the building of machinery utilizing parts, tools, fasteners, etc.
- As may be necessary, provides design and technical guidance to other members of the engineering team

Requirements:
Education and Experience:
- BS Degree in Engineering required (Mechanical or Electrical or Automation Engineering Preferred)
- 3 years’ experience in LEAN manufacturing also preferred
Knowledge of systems and processes that would be beneficial in the role:
- Structural Design (Material Selection, Metallurgical and Mechanical Properties of Materials, Assembly Methods, Door Design, Sealing / Gasket Design, etc.)
- Design for X (Manufacturability, Quality, Cost, Service, etc.)
- Fluid Control (Water Filtration, Steam Generation, Humidity Control)
- Component Selection and Sizing (Motors, Gears, Belts, Fan Curve, etc.)
- Calculations (Stress, Torque, etc.)
- Systems Engineering (Product Architecture, Integration of Sub Systems, Cause And Effect Analysis, Risk Analysis)
- Finite Element Analysis
- Design Analysis (Force, Pressures, Acceleration, Force, Vibration)
- Inventor Drawings (Dimensioning Patterns, View Creating, etc.)
- Inventor Parts & Sheet Metal (Model Optimization, Appropriate Use of Configurations, etc.)
- Inventor Assemblies (Top Down Assembly, Bottom Up Assembly, Design Intent, Interference Detection, etc.)
- Vault (Check In, Check Out, Search, Transition, etc.)
