Nursery Finishing Supervisor
Lead a team of contract growers to achieve efficiency and quality in animal care while maintaining the highest standards of biosecurity, animal welfare, and ethics.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as liaison between ownership entity and producers raising animals for Country View Family Farms
- Review production performance and make decisions concerning performance issues at individual farm locations
- Manage financial performance by controlling costs, budgeting, business planning, and tracking financial activity
- Establish and maintain open communication with all farm staff, management, other departments, external customers, and suppliers
- Ensure safe work environment by providing safety equipment, training, and actions to prevent hazardous conditions
Requirements:
- Associate's degree (A.A.) in Animal Sciences, Agribusiness, Livestock Production or equivalent from two-year college or accredited technical school
- Minimum of five years related experience and/or training
- Passion for teaching and leading growers to meet goals in efficiency while maintaining ethics, integrity, and stewardship
- Natural analytical skills with ability to solve problems and make adjustments for future improvements
- Able to tolerate barn environment with animal dander, manure, dust, blood, odors, and noisy conditions
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently move around production areas of barns/farms
- Occasionally ascend/descend ladders to work atop equipment and provide routine maintenance
- Frequently position self to complete tasks by reaching under/around animals, into/out of animal crates/pens
- Constant visual monitoring of sow/animal health and well-being
- Frequently utilize personal protective equipment (PPE)
