What are the responsibilities and job description for the Afterschool Lead Teacher position at Clemmons Moravian Church?
We are an established afterschool program in Clemmons, NC seeking a part-time or full-time afterschool lead teacher for our 2024-2025 school year. A lead afterschool teacher is responsible for the daily supervision of 15 to 30 elementary aged children from 2pm-6pm Monday-Friday. A lead afterschool teacher must be comfortable working alone for periods of time (if within ratio) and also with a co-teacher. As an afterschool lead teacher, you will be responsible for the planning, development, and implementation of daily activities for the children. You will follow the schedule provided, and ensure quality supervision and care of each and every child happens daily. There is allotted time on the daily schedule for free play, homework help, and physical activities, along with weekly Art/STEM. You must be comfortable greeting parents and sending pictures/communications with parents via our parent communication app.
Throughout the school year there are holidays and breaks that the school system observes where we provide full-day drop in camp for. The afterschool lead teacher will work alongside the schoolage coordinator and plan activities for these days. The afterschool teaching staff working drop-in camp will be responsible for 10-40 children alongside other staff members providing care and activities to small and large groups of children. You will develop lesson plans and activities and communicating with parents. Full-Day Drop in Camp happens on teacher work days, wsfcs snow days, and holiday breaks (we are not open on major holidays).
The afterschool lead teacher is expected to be involved in the positive social emotional development of school age children by ensuring a safe, nurturing, healthy, loving and fun learning environment.
The ideal candidate is caring, creative, organized, and patient. This individual will also have at least 1 year experience working with elementary aged children in a teaching/childcare capacity. This would be a regular part-time position from 2pm-6pm daily, with the opportunity for full-time hours during full-day drop in camp days if available to work a longer shift OR if you would like to work in the childcare portion from 9-1.
