What are the responsibilities and job description for the Groundskeeper position at Clemson Downs - Clemson Area Retirement Ctr?
Clemson Downs is seeking an energetic individual to maintain our grounds and ensure the property is aesthetically pleasing and functioning properly.
To be successful in this role you will need experience in flower planting and cultivation, irrigation system upkeep and repair and minor tree work. Experience with seasonal and plant specific pruning is required. You will need to be able to maintain small hand tools and small gas-powered lawn/ grounds maintenance tools. Experience with fertilizers and pesticides is required. Basic plumbing and electrical skills will be a plus.

Primary responsibilities include:
- Maintaining shrubbery and flower bed
- Seasonal planting of flower beds
- Trimming trees and shrubs as needed and seasonally and plant specific to foster blooming
- Fertilization of shrubs, flowers and trees based on seasonal needs and specific plant needs
- Maintain and care for lawn equipment (push mower, gas weed eater, gas hedge trimmer, etc)
- Monitor outdoor plumbing and electrical features/ fixtures for need of repair
- During times of inclement weather assist with indoor maintenance tasks as per the direction of the Director of Maintenance department.
- Clear sidewalks and entry ways of snow and/ or ice when necessary
This position is subject to on-call status one week each month.
