The Medication Technician plays a vital role on our team, responsible for administering medications to resdietns in our community. This position requires a compassionate individual who is dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of patients while adhering to all regulatory standards and best practices.
Duties
- Administer prescribed medications to patients according to established protocols and guidelines.
- Maintain accurate medical records for each patient, documenting medication administration and any observed side effects.
- Collaborate with nurses and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Provide catheter care and support for patients requiring assistance with daily living activities.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.
- Monitor patients for changes in condition or reactions to medications, reporting any concerns promptly.
- Assist in memory care programs for patients with cognitive impairments, ensuring a supportive environment.
- Participate in ongoing training and development to stay current with best practices in medication administration and patient care.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of physiology and anatomy to understand the effects of medications on the body.
- Familiarity with medical records management systems and documentation standards.
- Experience or knowledge in home community care, hospice care, or hospital settings is preferred.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team, demonstrating excellent communication skills.
