What are the responsibilities and job description for the Post Doctoral Fellow - Bioengineering position at Clemson University MBA Programs?
Clemson University: College of Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences: Bioengineering
Location
Clemson, SC
Open Date
Jan 19, 2024
Description
A highly motivated postdoctoral research associate is sought for constructing a testbed that recreates several physical variables relevant to the surfaces of marine vessels, including shear forces, temperature, and pressure. The experimental results from the testbed will guide the design of beneficial microbial communities.
The postdoc will work closely with optics experts to integrate cutting-edge imaging equipment and with microbiologists to understand and achieve design specifications. Overall, the role requires key work as part of large, fast-paced, interdisciplinary project with collaborators at multiple institutions. The position in in the Department of Bioengineering at Clemson University. The initial offer for a 1 year position, with possible extensions based on performance and continuation of funding.
Qualifications
Ph.D. in related field, e.g., Bioengineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics. Experience and skills relevant to the construction of testbeds or systems for in vitro characterization, including fluidics/microfluidics design, hydrodynamics, sensor integration, automation, Labview, 3D design/fab, etc. Understanding of, or strong interest in, biofilms and the engineering of microbial communities. Demonstrated ability to work in groups on integrated tasks, independently solve problems, and progress on challenging research endeavors in a timely fashion. Excellent communication skills, since there will be frequent presentation and reporting opportunities.
