RESPONSIBILITIES
The Communications Intern will play a key role in supporting the daily operations of the communications department, with responsibilities that include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Compile and distribute local and national daily news clippings.
- Assist with the preparation of publications, including the weekly game release and the team's annual media guide.
- Transcribe interviews with players, coaches, and front office staff from practices, open locker rooms, and press conferences.
- Contribute to the writing of press releases, advisories and other materials needed by the communications staff.
- Assisting with coordinating player/coach interview requests as well as open locker room sessions.
- Support the communications department at community, business, and non-football events as needed.
- Set up the press box for all home games, including seating cards, seating charts, booth signage, flip cards, press box notes and other materials.
- Assist with statistical research and utilize research tools such as StatsPass, TruMedia and Pro Football Reference.
- Update and maintain the team's media website (Browns 1RMG) with the latest information.
- Support the department's mailing efforts and the team's credentialing process.
REQUIREMENTS
- Recent college graduate with a bachelor's degree with a focus in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Business or related field preferred.
- Must provide personal transportation and housing.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communications skills.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and Outlook) and Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop).
- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including weekends, evenings and holidays, as needed.
