Indian River Hospital’s Emergency Department has multi-disciplinary care teams, and the leading-edge technology needed to diagnose and treat patients effectively, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.  A caregiver in this position works 7:00pm - 7:30am.   A caregiver who excels in this role will:  Perform ongoing surveillance of patients’ cardiac monitors, cardiac rhythm and vital signs. Notify nursing caregivers of changes in cardiac rhythm and/or hemodynamics that could impact the patient’s condition.  Interpret patient’s cardiac rhythm and document in the patient’s electronic medical record. Answer the telephone and communicate clearly when receiving and delivering information. Orient and mentor new caregivers and serve as a training and troubleshooting resource for the CMU and nursing units.  Provide reports for the oncoming shift.   Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  High school diploma or GED.  Knowledge and understanding of basic patient care activities attained through successful completion of a formal training program in allied health or a healthcare field such as nursing, medical assisting, EMT or a similar field OR one year of patient care experience in a hospital, nursing home, or healthcare field. Working knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy/physiology, computer and typing skills. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).   Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  Completion of EKG/Cardiac Monitoring course. Experience as a Monitor Technician.  Demonstrated skill in recognizing abnormal cardiac rhythms.  Our caregivers continue to create the best outcomes for our patients across each of our facilities.
