Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our 2E Observation Unit as a Nurse Specialist in Acute Care Observation. In this role, you will provide direct nursing care to patients requiring further observation to determine if they need admission to the hospital or can safely be discharged within 24 hours.
Responsibilities
- Implement, monitor, evaluate, update, and revise patient care plans to ensure optimal outcomes.
- Monitor and record patients' conditions, administering prescribed medications and treatments as needed.
- Note and carry out physician and nursing orders to maintain accurate patient records.
- Assess and coordinate patients' discharge needs, ensuring a smooth transition to home or further care.
- Educate patients and their families on self-care techniques and disease management.
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing with a current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) and one year of current acute care RN experience in a hospital setting.
- PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), Advanced Life Support (ACLS) certification, and NIHSS certification.

Physical Demands
- This position requires full range of body motion, including handling and lifting patients, manual dexterity, and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires standing and walking for extended periods and corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
- Exposed to communicable diseases and/or body fluids; physical demands in excess of Light Work.
