As an Ophthalmic Assistant, you will utilize the latest technology to provide vision care by providing various tests and procedures to patients. A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00AM – 5:00pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Perform clinical and technical ophthalmic duties and basic patient care as directed by a physician or supervisor.
Receive and prepare patients for examination and treatment under the direction of a supervisor or physician.
Perform routine screening tests and document patient information in the patient medical record.
Stock and maintain exam rooms with equipment and supplies.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
High School Diploma or GED
Successful completion of the Certified Ophthalmic Assistant written exam
Recent graduate of an Ophthalmic Technology Program (not yet COT certified)
Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) by the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology (JCAHPO)
One year of experience providing direct patient care under the supervision of an Ophthalmologist

Physical Requirements:
Manual dexterity to operate office equipment and PC.
Ability to lift and transport up to 25 pounds.
May require extended periods of standing, walking or sitting.
Visual acuity, including the ability to distinguish colors.
Personal Protective Equipment:
Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
