We are looking to add a Clinical Risk Manager to the team. The Manager directs the organization's clinical risk management program on a day-to-day basis and implements clinical risk management initiatives to ensure operational alignment with assigned Hospital/Institute and organizational objectives. You will coordinate with nursing, care management, medical staff, and others as appropriate to ensure compliance with all standards and favorable performance clinical risk management metrics.
A caregiver in this position works Days Calls, from 8:00am—5:00pm
Responsibilities:
- Safety Event Reporting System (SERS) Event Management: Appropriately manages event reports for assigned Institutes or Hospitals per CRM process, accurately codes, investigates, and analyzes trending data.
- Collaborates with leadership and support teams to develop and achieve clinical risk management goals and accomplish duties assigned to the role.
- Incorporates enterprise priorities and regulatory requirements and benchmarks.
- Conducts and facilitates Root Cause Analyses (RCA); identifies root cause and causal factors of events.
- Identifies organizational risk through RCA trend analysis, themes, and patterns; identifies/articulates opportunities for improvement.
- Facilitates implementation of standardized and highly reliable processes.
- Trends RCA themes and patterns; identifies/articulates opportunities for improvement.
- Prepares professional reports and documentation required for CRM role on a timely basis.
- Serves as mentor/preceptor for new team members.
- Assists with coaching healthcare providers or facility leaders regarding unanticipated outcomes.
- Applies management processes for disclosure of unanticipated outcomes and medical errors.
- Follows-up with patients and families when appropriate and works proactively toward early resolution with other appropriate parties, as necessary.
- Serves as resource for risk related issues/information to facilitate adherence to standards, policies, rules, and regulations.
- Prepares professional reports and documentation required for CRM role on a timely basis.
- Participates in Enterprise Committees representing Clinical Risk Management.
- Presents risk and safety data and mitigation strategies throughout the sub-market and Enterprise.
- Identifies and effectively communicates with members of the Law and Enterprise Risk and Insurance (ERI) Departments regarding potential quality of care, safety, patient experience, regulatory and insurance concerns.
- Develops, presents education sessions upon request or with identified need.
- On-call responsibilities to provide 24/7 CRM consultation coverage per established CRM department process.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Registered Nurse (BSN) or bachelor's degree in a health sciences discipline is required.
- Other licensed clinicians will be considered with commensurate education, knowledge & skills, and acquired work experience.
- Master’s or other advanced degree strongly preferred.
Languages:
- English.
Certifications:
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure preferred.
- Current certification as Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM) required.
- Current FASHRM, DFASHRM, CPPS or CPHQ certification, or other advanced education in the field of quality strongly preferred.

Work Experience:
- Minimum five (5) years clinical experience required. Leadership experience preferred.
- Minimum three (3) years of experience in Clinical Risk Management required.
- Other field related experience with commensurate education, licensure, knowledge & skills, and acquired work experience may be considered.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information.

- Ability to work with physical records or operate a computer or other office equipment.
- In some locations, ability to travel throughout the hospital system.
