Cleveland Clinic is currently seeking CRNAs for opportunities at Akron General Medical Center. Akron General is a 500 bed hospital with a level 1 Trauma
Center.
Case mix includes: Neuro, NIL, CV, Endo, GU, GYN, Spine, Ortho, Plastics, ENT, Heart, General, Colorectal, Bronch, EPS, and GI. There are currently CRNAs assigned to OB, however there may be opportunities to those with interest.

Administers anesthetic care for the purpose of facilitating diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Performs and documents a pre-anesthetic assessment and evaluation of the patient.
- Develops and implements an anesthetic plan of care, including monitoring modalities and post-anesthesia follow-up evaluation and care.
- Selects, obtains and administers the anesthetic plan of care, including induction, maintenance and emergence phase anesthesia.
- Recognizes alterations in physiologic responses to the surgical procedure and/or the anesthetic, takes appropriate action and notifies the responsible physician as indicated.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Follows Hospital and department policies and procedures with special attention to attendance and punctuality, confidentiality, dress code and display of ID badge, and safety.
- Completes mandatory education and training in order to maintain organization and department-specific competencies and requirements.
Education:
- Graduate of accredited CRNA program.
Certifications:
- Current state licensure as a registered nurse (RN).
- Certified registered nurse anesthetist (CRNA) from the Ohio Board of Nursing.
- Current certification and continued professional certification (CPC) with the National Board of Certification Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA) and State Board of Nursing endorsement.
- Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) through American Heart Association (AHA) certification may be required based upon work setting.
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) through American Academy of Pediatrics certifications may be required based upon work setting.
Complexity of Work:
- Within scope of job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to work in a stressful environment.
- Variable Shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays. Call expected.
Work Experience:
- Preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires full range of motion; manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
- Requires standing and walking for extensive periods of time and the ability to lift and transport patients.
- Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
- Requires some exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
- Ability to work under extreme pressure.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
